Look no further. JSA is proud to be able to offer Reef Checks EcoDiver course here in Juara Bay. Eco divers are volunteers who help Reef Check to deliver their citizen science program, collecting data to aid in coral reef management and conservation efforts.
This course will teach you everything you need to know to conduct a full-scale Reef Survey and collect high-quality data to contribute to the global database. During this program you will learn about marine conservation issues, the role of citizen science as well as how to identify key indicator fish, invertebrates and substrates which are used for assessing coral reef health.
This course is great if you are wanting to take a step towards more scientific diving, or conservation based work as well as for anyone who wants to understand a little bit more about these underwater cities.
After completing this course you will also have the best excuse to dive as you will be able to join the Reef Check monitoring team and assist in underwater surveys around the world!
This 3 day course will include Onland Theory classes as well as in water training sessions.
During your EcoDiver course you will complete a series of topics in our onsite classroom such as
Upon completion of the written ID test, pass mark 90%, students will begin their in water training participating in field practice and practise audits of each of the indicator species.
EcoDivers are certified for the region in which they are trained, so, on passing this course, you will be able to participate in surveys held in the Indo-Pacific waterways. You can transfer to a new region by completing and passing an ID test of the indicator species for that new region.
